Etsy Raves: Tasty Peach Studios

I always like bringing you guys the 411 when it comes to new and exciting products I have no doubt I'd think you'd like. While I was at Otakon over the weekend walking around some of the booths in the dealers room, I came across this particular Japanese kawaii plush store and had to share some of the things I found on their website. The items listed online are a bit more expensive than how much it was on the actual physical booth but they're worth it for the quality and cuteness!

Notice: Different plushies run to different prices!
Their online store holds so many fun and soft plushies. I'll insert a picture of the one I got but I just wish I had al of them right now! Some of these plushies also have some hand-embroidered elements, which give it the handmade feel.

And check out their shirts while you're at it..
This is the plushie I purchased on the day of the con...
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

The actual size is about 10 inches in height, not that large but still really cute and packable. The black and white bone part is supposed to be hand-embroidered, and you can definitely feel that when you have the actual product in your hands. The fur itself is incredibly soft and huggable. I love the idea of this Zombie Alpaca because I have a lot of alpacas but none like this at all! I feel like the plushie is a bit expensive but their prices, I'm sure, are tailored to be reasonable to the seller and the fact that some aspects are handmade.

How cute are these? Are you going to purchase a Zombi-Paca?

Night On The Towns with Paper Towns by John Green + GIVEAWAY

Night On The Towns is a special event where fans will be the first to see the film and be included in a live simulcast experience of an exclusive Q&A with the Paper Towns stars! I saw this event pop up on my event app and was so excited to hear that it was going to be premiering near me. I quickly grabbed a few tickets and decided I would spend this lovely evening with my friends and fam. This post is going to feature some of the events that occurred.

Oh...

And don't forget to watch Paper Towns in theatres July 24, 2015!

As most of you know, I didn't enjoy Paper Towns by John Green. The book for me was mediocre, and I'm not trying to offend anyone who's read the book and loved it. However, I made sure I was gonna watch the movie in order to compare it to the book and participate in a liveshow for Paper Towns on August 3rd with my awesome friend Bridget. First I should just show you guys the pictures of the event and then talk about my review for the movie.

There was a live Q&A with the cast and the filmmakers, plus John Green! Natt and Alex Wolff also performed after the screening and the Q&A. John Green and the cast weren't actually there though because this was a global event so they were in LA and Canada.

Now for the actual review. I thought the actors and actresses cast to play the roles of the characters really embodied their personalities from the book. I loved Margo so so much! The actor Cara Delevingne is a very famous model and this was kind of like her big break in acting. I'm surprised by how good she is, and I could feel Margo's presence in her. Natt was golden! I loved his as Isaac in TFIOS and knew he was going to be cast as Quentin for Paper Towns.

The whole story followed self discovery, which is one of my favorite plotlines and morals in a book/movie. This movie is filled with endless humor and I just couldn't stop laughing in the theatre. Some of the jokes were exactly the same as those mentioned in the book and it gave me that nice and refreshing feeling.

In short, you should definitely go and buy tickets to this movie. I loved every part of it and THERE'S GOING TO BE A SURPRISE IN THE MOVIE THAT IS VERY REMINSCENT OF THE FAULT IN OUR STARS. Just for that, you must watch this movie! A light-hearted and fluffy movie that doesn't make you cry is exactly what you need! And if you're a fan of the book, it's no doubt that you should watch this movie!

And now... I couldn't get free stuff and not do a giveaway!

FOR U.S. ONLY
I received an exclusive Paper Towns movie locket from the early preview and I'm going to give one away! Due to shipping prices, this giveaway is US only but I'll be sure to do some more international giveaways! If you want to see what the locket looks like, there is a picture above.

Summer of Sarah Dessen: Someone Like You by Sarah Dessen

Penguin is hosting a 12-week social media campaign for all things Sarah Dessen! With her new novel Saint Anything finally out, she is the queen of modern contemporary and the weaver of love stories and romances. I've found myself loving her cute and unique writing style as she writes from the lives and perspectives of teenagers so it's totally relatable! I'm so glad to be apart of the campaign and introducing all of you guys to the infamous author, Sarah Dessen.

The world is a terrible place not to have a best friend.

Scarlett was always the strong one.

Halley was always content to follow in her wake.

Then Scarlett's boyfriend died, and Scarlett learned that she was pregnant.

Not Halley has to find the strength to take the lead and help Scarlett get through it.

Because true friendship is a promise you keep forever.

Get it now!
**I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review**

Summer should be a season fun of light and fluffy contemporaries so it wasn't to anyone's surprise that I was ecstatic when I received another Sarah Dessen book since I'd only read two before this one. It's funny because contemporaries and romance books are not the kind I usually go to if I want to just read.  I prayed to the book gods that this book would change my perspective on Sarah Dessen books and the contemporary genre altogether. I'm not disappointed to say that it has tremendously!
It's obvious that you won't be getting the same action and romance as a fantasy novel in a contemporary novel but one thing was definitely the same: the angst and suspense! This book follows our main character Halley who is sort of the shy one and the follower in the presence of her best friend Scarlett. But everything changes when Scarlett's boyfriend dies and Halley becomes the one that has to pick Scarlett up and put her back together again. It's a great character dynamic: the leader becomes the follower and vise versa. I loved the switching of roles and it was a fun thing to read about.

This book is excellent in giving you the best of both worlds, or aka both the tragedies and the comedies. There are some super serious parts talked about in this book but then there are the lighthearted comments and jokes between the characters that give this book its name in the contemporary genre.

I know it's not commonplace for contemporary books to have shocking plot twists, but this one did!! And when I read it... ohh when I read it... I was like "oh crap, what is she gonna do now?" I was blown away by this book! My first Sarah Dessen novel, The Truth About Forever, didn't impress me very much but I feel like her writing really grows on you as you keep reading. I'm a Sarah Dessen now!

As an experienced reader with this author, I would say that Sarah Dessen's books are more mature and not the average light and fluffy contemporary. Each book and story packs a punch that follows a bigger moral and lesson that is told through the eyes of book characters. You should know that before you start reading.
Did anyone else hate the main character in this book? She never learned from her mistakes and she barely listened to her mother when she told her to stay away from a guy that could possibly lead her down a dangerous road. Well, what can I say? She's a rebellious teenager, just like me! So I kind of related to that part and wow, Dessen's characters are realistic and relatable. So relatable, in fact, now I know how other people view me!

She disobeys her mom and sneaks out of the house in the middle of the night. Like, c'mon girl. These rules weren't made for breaking. And haven't you learned that moms are ALWAYS right! I love you mommy, if you're reading this post. She also doesn't understand or notice when a guy is just with her to have sex with her. I guess she was just too blinded by the fact that this popular and handsome boy really liked her. And boy, was he a real douche.

The best friend Scarlett was like the Wise Owl. Even though, yes, she had sex with her boyfriend without protection and ended up getting pregnant with his baby shortly after he died, Scarlett was a sole person in Halley's life and told her to stop seeing Macon because he was kind of being a bad influence on her. She's definitely the friend I wish I had. So yes, there was a great wheel of characters.
Sarah Dessen is well-known for her romance, and I'm glad to say that I had no qualms with the romantic dynamics of this book. The romantic relationship in this book was a little weird. The guy took advantage of the girl and that was so interesting!! The main character in this book falls into a deep and passionate relationship and doesn't realize that he's those kinds of guys who only want something from her. I did not see that coming at all in the beginning and would have never expected a plot twist from a Sarah Dessen book. Overall, my favorite part about this novel was the romance and you can tell, it was a highlighted factor.

Have you read this book yet? Have you read any other Sarah Dessen books?

it's almost
time for war.

Juliette has escaped to Omega Point. It is a place for people like her-- people with gifts-- and it is also the headquarters of the rebel resistance.

She's finally free from The Reestablishment, free from their plan to use her as a weapon, and free to love Adam. But Juliette will never be free from her lethal touch.

Or from Warner, who wants Juliette more than she ever thought possible.

In this exhilarating sequel to Shatter Me, Juliette has to make life-changing decisions between what she wants and what she thinks is right. Decisions that might involved choosing between her heart- and Adam's life.

Buy it now!

This series is just mocking me... MOCKING ME! It's getting and better with each book and by every minute because I can't stop thinking about it! Why didn't somebody warn me about the feels and the huge book hangover I would get after this one. And the worst part is that I don't have time to read Ignite Me when I have so many review books to catch up on. I was working on it :D
The whole series revolves around the story of Juliette, this girl with a lethal touch that can kill just within single contact to someone's skin. The start of Shatter Me begins with Juliette in an insane asylum where she is put for her own safety and for the safety of others. The events of Unravel Me follow where Shatter Me leaves off so I will tell you once and only once before I get into the spoilers...

If you have not read Shatter Me and don't want to be spoiled for it or the next book, leave immediately!

So back to the plot. Unravel Me took the aspect of Juliette's lethal touch and refined it by adding in more dynamics. I felt like she took us over that speed bump in Juliette's life and instead, now we're getting an inside scoop on how it has affected her relationships and the way she feels about herself. She is self-conscious, always scared that she's going to hurt people and always looking out for others before herself.

This book is about what happens at Omega Point, and I loved how the author thought of creating this place in the first place. Who would have ever thought that there were going to be more people with powers? I didn't. In fact, I had no idea!
Before we jump right into talking about Juliette, let's talk about Warner. Warner is a character that really begins to grow on your through this series. In the beginning, he is this evil, manipulative man that seems to only want Juliette for her power but it's ironic that while she was captive there, he fell in love with her and from then on only wanted to protect her and (selfishly) have her for himself. But I felt like that just really emphasized how much Warner loved Juliette than how much Adam does. Adam was more like a whiny character in the sequel, always sad about how their relationship was dwindling. Okay yes, I do feel bad that you can't touch the girl you love but hey there are a ton of fish in the sea, don't just keep hanging your bait over this one girl!

Juliette is as kickbutt as ever and her badassery level just rocked the house. The sequel really emphasized the idea of powers because at Omega Point she wasn't the only one with powers. However, I still think this girl has got some issues because she's really self conscious about her powers. I understand you have a dangerous power sweetie, but you're never going to learn how to control it if you're just going to cower away scared all the time when you most need it. It's like the entire book was her corner and she was sitting there in the dark. I really hope her character dynamic changes throughout the completion of the series.
BEWARE OF LOVE TRIANGLES
GO NO FURTHER!

Yes there's a love triangle. I don't remember who told me that this series was infamous because of its love triangle but I know that they weren't lying at all! The triangle is gritty and intense and plus it's between two guys that completely hate each other, which I have to give credit for the author for making it such a hard decision for the main character. There's Adam who is Juliette's first love and the one that at first can touch her but then she realizes that her power just conflicts with his and she's actually killing him by touching him. Then there is Warner who helps his dad with the Reestablishment so a bit of a bad guy. His power is one that allow him to touch Juliette and therefore there are no complications in making out or doing other nastay things. But there's also a problem there because although she is free to touch Warner and actually get close to them, her feelings for Adam are unwavering.

What I didn't like was the fact that this love triangle was the only romance ever mentioned so far in this series. In some other great series I've read, there was always other romances going on and then there was the main character with his/her love story. I didn't like how the book was so focused on the romance 90% of the time and there was only Juliette, Warner, and Adam. Why doesn't Kenji have any love interests? What about Castle? Where are the other girls and boys!!??!?!?!?!?

This series has yet to disappoint me in some areas, and you know I love a good, fast-paced YA dystopian. I highly recommend these books and they're great for those who want to read a trilogy but don't want to run the risk of being left unsatisfied after each book. 2 finish, 1 more to go!

Okay you've read the review. Now please fangirl with me!

Teen Wolf First Impressions + Reactions

Unlike every other crazy teenager in the world, I have not yet watched Teen Wolf. I've considered it, twice actually. It just doesn't intrigue me enough to actually get moving along with it, you know what I mean? When a show that everyone loves doesn't intrigue you. That's the worst feeling. Instead of doing a review, I'm doing something a little bit different. These are my first impressions on the TV show Teen Wolf.

The Name. Sorry, but the name Teen Wolf doesn't emulate maturity to me. It sounds like a cliche teenage romance between werewolves. Also doesn't it sound like the people who created the title were having a hard time coming up with it and they just got lazy at the last second. So they took the main supernatural creature of the movie, which are werewolves and smacked it behind a teen because there are teenagers! To say that this is what made me stay away from the show the longest would be a total understatement. Just imagine Teen Wolf as a booger, and there's me trying not to touch it or have anything to do with it. Yeah, I'm trying to be funny because who doesn't love a review with a little bit of sick humor! Why couldn't they have came up with a much cooler name like Bitten or Claws! Okay, maybe those weren't that creative but the title-maker-uppers know exactly what I'm talking about.

Werewolves, really? I've had many bad experiences with werewolves. First the makeup and then the actual growling. I mean if you can't do it as well as the werewolves in the movie Van Helsing, might as well not try at all! You movie buffs know what I'm talking about! I like scary werewolves, not the fake kind that look like a mix of a demon and a bear. I was skeptical about going into a teenage werewolf movie because I had no idea what the makeup and effects of the werewolves would look like.

Ship Names. Going into this show, I was bombarded with ship names. Excuse me, it sounds like there are love triangles. No, no, no I'm not getting caught up in that! To name a few: Stydia, Scallison (what even?), Sciles (haha I get it). I don't like when a show is just associated and distinguished by its ship names.

1 month later...

So I've watched four season and wow...

Umm, this is a little embarrassing. Just disregard everything I said up there because I think I've found my new favorite TV show. I think you guys all knew this was going to happen!! It was inevitable. I was lured in and snapped into the trap. Oh but anyways, let's get into my reactions!

Turns out this show is lot more than teeth and claws. This is strictly a paranormal/supernatural show entailing many supernatural creatures that make appearances. There are werewolf, druids, and even banshees. I thought the dynamic of having a reason for why the characters were what they were was really awesome. There was a good amount of background information and mythology and history. At some points in some of the episodes, I found myself nodding when something new was revealed or a problem was solved. That feeling was just so satisfying.

Our characters all have their own personalities. No two are alike in any way. There's Scott, who is the loyal one and is turned into a werewolf in the second part of the pilot episode. This changes him from quiet and shy Scott McCall who was never noticed to popular player on the lacrosse team whose name everybody knows. Stiles was one of my favorite characters in this show, being the sidekick and all. He could be so sarcastic and humorous at times and I feel like we're missing the sarcastic types in TV/media today. It was a great and refreshing thing to see! The female roles were played by beautiful and strong young woman.

The romance was cute and so serious.... geez. There was a little bit of forbidden romance and lost love for some of the characters. Along with romance there was also a lot of character death. I don't think I have enough fingers to count how many characters have died so far. Teen Wolf, you win the award for most character deaths! Yeah, but how and when they died really played well into the show.

So are you late on the Teen Wolf express? Don't worry, you can still get a ride and it's never too late to join in. I know I'm not sorry for binge-watching it!

A New Book Subscription Box: Bookcase

Get a box of hand picked books sent to your door every month, starting at $8.95!

Hello guys, today I'm here with a continuation of my book subscription box posts. I found this new one I'm introducing today called Bookcase, which is very reminiscent of Uppercase but it looks even cooler and it's bringing its own little bang.

Disclaimed: All pictures are taken from the Bookcase homepage or website.
There are two options listed on the homepage: One for the casual reader and one for the bookworm. The casual reader option is composed of 1 hand picked book based on the books that you like to read. The Bookworm option allows you to get 3 books also based on the books that you like to read. I really think the prices are so inexpensive and wonderful because other subscription boxes today go for so much higher. It's a great deal to get books that you'll love and that are based on your reading preference.

It's pretty neat that this decided to focus on both casual and crazy readers. That way, if you're a casual reader and you're not looking for so many books, you can purchase the casual option. But let's say you're a bookworm (like me) then you won't only get one book, you'll get three with the bookworm option. It's the best of both worlds!

And if you enter your email address, they will offer the first month with free shipping.

You can't argue with a box that is tailored around your reading style! It's actually unbelievable that they do this because most of them just bring you the hottest and top books of the month. There are three actual steps in informing them about what you like to read and it's kind of like taking a survey, which I love doing!

It's perfect for those who love a genre and want recommendations to some great books in that area. Bookcase will be your guide and send the books that you'll know you'll enjoy because of how well-tailored it is.

And for anybody that's going to ask...

NO, I HAVEN'T PURCHASED ONE!

I'm broke right now from spending my emergency money on Snow Like Ashes. I'm also saving up for anime conventions I'm going to soon, so I can't be caught ordering more online! But if you are thinking about ordering it or already have received a box, please send me a link to you unboxing post or how much you liked it!

Will you be ordering a Bookcase?

The thrilling second book in the #1 New York Times bestselling Red Queen trilogy follows Mare Barrow on her mission to defeat the traitorous Maven.

Mare Barrow's blood is red- the color of common folk- but her Silver ability, the power to control lightning, has turned her into a weapon that the royal court tries to control.

The crown called her an impossibility, a fake, but as she makes her escape from Maven, the prince- the friend- who betrayed her, Mare uncovers something startling: she is not the only one of her kind.

Pursued by Maven, now a vindictive king, Mare sets out to find and recruit other Red-and-Silver fighters to join in the struggle against her oppressors.

But Mare finds herself on a deadly path, at risk of becoming exactly the kind of monster she is trying to defeat.

Will she shatter under the weight of the lives that are the cost of rebellion? Or have treachery and betrayal hardened her forever?

I read Red Queen a while back when it was first released and I loved it because I am a big fantasy reader. My review can be found here. If you're into epic fantasy reads that have an amazing plot twist at the end, pick up this series before the second book comes out!

Books and Songs

Looking for some good tunes with the books you read? Check out these updated Books and Songs list I created with modern music that is so popular today!

Ingrid Michaelson's End of the World. This song fits this gritty, heart-wrenching novel perfectly as four teens undergo a string of character development and life-changing experiences with only two months left to live before all life on Earth is annihilated. This song doesn't only talk about the end of the world but it's mostly about everything that happened before and what's going to happen after, which perfectly explained this book.

Ellie Goulding's Love Me Like You Do. This book tells about a story between a girl who has this rare disease where she can't go outside or do anything but stay in the quarters of her home for the rest of her life. When a cute boy moves in next door, all Madeline needs is the sight of him to ensure that she's in total love with this guy. From their windows, they talk to each other with written signs and mouthing their words. Their relationship grows and the struggle with being close to him grows with it. This song, which I'm sure you're all familiar with, is about this girl who is kind of fearless like Madeline who just wants to feel love and the goodness of being in love but with all the hardships in the way.

Birdy's Wings. The name of the song is actually Wings... This book is about a girl whose boyfriend dies and she depends on her friend to pick her life back up and piece it back together.

Nick Jonas' Chains. Haha of course I had to infuse a Sarah J. Maas book in this new segment. This book is an epic fantasy NA/YA book that is about a girl who goes hunting in the woods one day and kills a wolf to bring back and sell for food for her family. Little does she know, that by killing that wolf, she has sentenced herself to an eternity in the fae world. IF YOU READ THIS BOOK: Tamlin is a beast.. like a sexy beast. I thought the song Chains perfectly explained this book because Nick Jonas sings about how "you've got in chains, you've got me in chains for your love" so I thought Tamlin and Feyre's epic love story encapsulated this song. How Feyre had Tamlin wrapped around his fingers.

Emily Osment's Drift. This contemporary novel is a book that focuses on the idea of suicide. This song was actually taken from a suicide attempt film starring Emily Osment. It's a great movie about cyberbullying and it's called Cyberbully. I highly recommend you to watch this movie if you loved the book and the aspect of bullying and how it was told. The song is slow but it has so much meaning.

Imagine Dragon's Radioactive. This book is a fantasy series about a girl with a lethal touch. I'm currently on the second book of the series and am super excited about it because I just love it so much. The song Radioactive relates to this book because it's kind of about this guy breaking out of his bonds and waking up from his compulsion that other people have had on him. That's how I analyzed the song. But the book also held a great aspect of self discovery and Juliette trying to break from what people were calling her and making a new name for herself and her power.

Fall Out Boys' Immortals. This book is a YA Dystopian novel that takes place after a burst in the sky called Calamity came and turned ordinary people into people with extraordinary powers. Some used them for good... while others used them for evil. There is a group trying to take down the Epics, except for the Reckoners, a group that has banded together with a vengeance so strong. The song Immortals is really expressive of teamwork and friendship. It's a fast, upbeat and plain awesome song. Check it out because it's been on my summer playlist so far.

Birdy's Tee Shirt. If you're looking for a song that is very reminiscent of TFIOS and the romance between Augustus and Hazel, check out this really romantic and love song by Birdy. Birdy is to date, one of my fav artists and her songs almost fit with like all these books here.

Do you think these songs matched their books? Any other suggestions?

In an exhilarating new series, New York Times bestselling author Rachel Caine rewrites history, creating a dangerous world where the Great Library of Alexandria has survived the test of time...

Ruthless and supremely powerful, the Great Library is now a presence in every major city, governing the flow of knowledge to the masses. Alchemy allows the Library to deliver the content of the greatest works of history instantly- but the personal ownership of books is expressly forbidden.

Jess Brightwell believes in the value of the Library, but the majority of his knowledge comes from illegal books obtained by his family, who are involved in the thriving black market. Jess has been sent to be his family's spy, but his loyalties are tested in the final months of his training to enter the Library's service.

When he inadvertently commits heresy by creating a device that could change the world, Jess discovers that those who control the Great Library believe that knowledge is more valuable than any human life- and soon both heretics and books will burn.

**I want to thank Penguin for an advanced galley of this book**

The synopsis of this book reminded me of Bradbury's classic novel, Fahrenheit 451 with the idea of knowledge (aka books) being forbidden in the hands of an individual person. I loved Fahrenheit 451 and it was my favorite of all the books I was forced to read throughout the school year. It was a dystopian novel that takes place in the future, as this one is now. The authority of this library kind of reminded me of the power of the Catholic Church and the Pope in history. Sorry, just bringing up lessons from Global.
Sadly but surely, I could not get into this book at all. About 180 pages in, I would stop in between chapters and try to recall what was going on in the past few chapters. After recalling the plot of Fahrenheit, I concluded that this book did not have an original plot and was kind of similar. I was still excited and hyped to read this book because I enjoyed Fahrenheit, which was mentioned before.

The book follows the main protagonist Jess. It starts out with Jess trying to smuggle books for his father because the Great Library forbids the society from having personals books that are not under the consent or knowledge of the library. Basically this sounds exactly like the Roman Catholic Church and how you couldn't read a bible unless it was from the Pope or in the Church. The problem with this is that things can be altered and changed and the people in the society wouldn't even know it! Jess' family, I guess, is enraged by this and feels that people should have their right to owning books and plus it makes good money! Jess himself, though, loves to read and usually sneaks a couple of moments of reading when on the job. His father ends up telling him to compete for a spot at the Great Library.

I hope I'm not confusing you guys with my full explanation of the plot because this book was so confusing at times! I can deal with a fantasy book that has complex and planned twists and turned, but not a book that attempts to be 'intricate' and doesn't succeed.
The characters fell flat for me in this book. Rachel Caine is the author of the infamous Morganville vampires series, which some of my friends have seriously loved. Jess was a booklover, which I could totally relate to but other than that, he had no other shining personalities and highlighted qualities. Jess was like the only character with a 'soul', or in other words, with substance!!! At times, I felt like he was the only character in this book. Well actually, his father was kind of an asshole, so does that count??

And, of course, you probably guessed that I didn't get as far as the romance parts. It was a YA book though so I suppose it had to have a great romance aspect.

This is my first Rachel Caine novel so just because I didn't like this specific book, doesn't mean I won't like any of her others and that you won't like it either. Take this in consideration because whenever I don't like novels 100%, there are so many others that do. I also consider this book as historical fiction, so it was something different.

Did you enjoy Fahrenheit 451 and are looking for a book with a similar dynamic and plot? Check out Ink and Bone by Rachel Caine!

But I'm most excited for...

The epic conclusion to JLA's Dark Elements series with the hot demon Roth and gargoyle Seth fighting over the main protagonist, a half demon and gargoyle, Layla! This is such a great fantasy and high paranormal romance series for all you book-lovers out there. Such a fast-paced read that can be sped through just in one sitting. I binge-read the first and second book. Another reason is because all of Jennifer's work is addictive!

2015 is turning out to be my best reading year yet. With tons of debut authors making a stand in YA literature and grand series coming out with sequels, this reading year couldn't get any better. Take a gander through this list of covers and tell me some of the things that you're excited for. Some lovely bloggers have introduced me to these books and I can't thank enough Erica and Christy from Novel Ink for prompting me to be excited for Pretending to Be Erica!!!
