Book Shopping Related Problems [in gifs]

Walking into the bookstore and seeing the wonderful mesh of colors from the book spines is probably the best part of book shopping. Now the worst? It's trying to nit-pick through what book to buy. And try as hard as you may, you just can't find the best book to take home or you have way too many books for your buck. Read on and think to yourself, does this ever happen to me?

1. Overachieving
You have $50 on hand to buy some new books, but you have about 7 books in your hand and you know for sure that they cost way more than $50. THIS ALWAYS HAPPENS TO ME BTW!!! And I either end up leaving the bookstore and coming back with more money or I have to literally hurt myself and put some book back! (It hurts real bad)

2. Wishlist Fishlist
I smell some fishy business! Whenever I go into Barnes and Noble, or any bookstore for that matter, with a list of books I need to get, I never stick to it and just buy books that I've seen other people love and really enjoy. I tend to do this all the time because I always see new shiny books that appeal to me more than the books that are on my list! Buying books turns into a need rather than a want.

3. Guilty Aftermath
When you buy more books than you need, you get the "guilt". The guilt always comes, no matter what you do and what you say. I get guilty all the time because I never intend to buy that many books but it's just the obsession and the hunger that takes over.

4. Book Buying Ban (not)
You're on a ban but then you drive past a Barnes and Noble or "happen" to come across amazon.com on your computer. And then you go crazy.... It's that simple because you're on a book buying ban but you're just so close and it probably won't hurt to buy one more book. Truth is, it does and it will hurt you in the long run xD!

5. Not Enough

When you go into the bookstore and walk out with only one book! JUST ONE. One just isn't enough however and instead of going back to the bookstore, you turn on your computer and take this time to do some online shopping. You just add a couple of books into your cart and then hurry to buy them.

6. Where's that book?
When you walk into a bookstore and absolutely can't find the book that's been on your wishlist for the longest time. As I mentioned in my previous post about fears book lovers have, this one happens most often to me and I end up leaving with more than what I needed to get.

What other book shopping related problems have you encountered?

  1. OMG all of these! Except I don't usually put myself on book buying bans, just book buying slow down... Though then I run the problem of when I can buy books again I go over board. I feel like that's going to happen. I have put myself on a slow down so that I wont buy many books since I am moving but I know when I get to my new place I will probably go crazy with book buying.

  4. HAHAHA, so true! I actually am on a book buying ban and yesterday I had to seriously stop myself from buying a book on amazon. I don't go by bookstores often but when I do it's seriously a problem. And I absolutely know what you mean with having a gift card and then spending more that you have. Once I get started it's hard to stop!

    1. OMG It's great that you're on a book buying ban! I can't commit to those. Gift cards are just an excuse to go to the store but then the credit card balance is just half of what we really spend, am i right? Am I right?

  5. Haha all of this is me everyday. I actually work at my local Barnes and Noble so can you imagine how much will power it takes for me not to spend my paycheck on all the pretty books I see everyday? As for book bans, I told myself I'd go on one after I got a bunch of books for Christmas butttttt that hasn't taken effect yet and it's now March xD

  7. Would I be overreacting if I sob to this? Nahhhh, not at all T_T My feelings. It's so unfair. I love books. Why can't books and money love me?

  8. Love this post haha :) I'm always guilty for buying too much books -- the guilt doesn't come because of the books, but because of the MONEY. (I'm saving up money to buy important stuff, but books always get on the way, lol.) It hurts me to not be able to buy everything I see there, though :( Great post, Alex! :)
