Either way, only one of us is walking away.

In the stunning conclusion to the wildly popular White Rabbit Chronicles, Alice "Ali" Bell thinks the worst is behind her. She's ready to take the next step with her boyfriend Cole Holland, the leader of the zombie slayers... until Anima Industries, the agency controlling the zombies, launches a sneak attack, kissing four of her friends. It's then she realizes that humans can be more dangerous than monsters... and the worst has only begun.

As the surviving slayers prepare for war, Ali discovers, she, too, can control the zombies... and she isn't the girl she thought she was. She's connected to the woman responsible for killing- and turning- Cole's mother. How can their relationship endure? As secrets come to light, and more slayers are taken or killed, Ali will fight harder than ever to bring down Anima- even sacrifisng her own life for those she loves.

Clockwork Prince (The Infernal Devices Trilogy Book 2) by Cassandra Clare

Title: Clockwork Prince
Author: Cassandra Clare
Pages: 502
Published: December 6th, 2011
Genre: YA fantasy
In the magical underworld of Victorian London, Tessa Gray has at last found safety with the Shadowhunters. But that safety proves fleeting when rogue forces in the Clave plot to see her protector, Charlotte, replaced as head of the Institute. If Charlotte loses her position, Tessa will be out on the street- and easy prey for the mysterious Magister, who wants to use Tessa's power for his own dark ends.

With the help of the handsome, self-destructive Will and the fiercely devoted Jem, Tessa discovers that the Magister's war on the Shadowhunters is deeply personal. He blames them for a long-ago tragedy that shattered his life. To unravel the secrets of the past, the trio journeys from mist-shrouded Yorkshire to a manor house that holds untold horrors, from the slums of London to an enchanted ballroom where Tessa discovers that the truth of her parentage is more sinister than she had imagined. When they encounter a clockwork demon bearing a warning for Will, they realize that the Magister himself knows their every move- and that one of their own has betrayed them.

Tessa finds her heart drawn more and more to Jem, but her longing for Will, despite his dark moods, continues to unsettle her. But something is changing in Will- the wall he has built around himself is crumbling. Could finding the Magister free Will from his secrets and give Tessa the answers about who she is and what she was born to do?

As their dangerous search for the Magister and the truth leads the friends into peril, Tessa learns that when love and lies are mixed, they can corrupt even the purest heart.
** SPOILERS ARE TOO BE EXPECTED IN THIS REVIEW**

If you haven't checked out my review of the first book, please click here!

Continuing on to the second book of the Infernal Devices trilogy, I have to say that I much more enjoyed the second book rather than the first. That normally never happens. Before you read you should beware that this book has some rather unfavorable aspects: erotic-ish romance, demon-slaying action scenes, and love triangles. If these certain aspects don't appeal to you, I suggest you to refrain from reading the rest of this review. But it's really no big deal because you'll love the book anyways.

We start off where we left off in the last book: Will asking Magnus for a favor. And at that point we had no idea what he had asked of Magnus, but in the second book we find out what Will's been hiding from us this entire time. We are already familiarized with Will's personality, which is cruel, moody and rude at times. But we also see his compassionate side for Tessa in book two. The clock begins to tick as Charlotte and the rest of the inhabitants of the London Institute are tasked with finding the Magister in a matter of days. Failure to accomplish this task could end up with Charlotte no longer the head of the Institute and that means chaos for all, including Tessa!

Now the reason I believe this book was better than the first is because it's just so much more intense. The romance heats up, as the book starts to develop the love triangle between Tessa, Will and Jem. She is forced to choose between two best friends, who are parabatai (blood brothers). They are sworn to protect each other under any circumstance. Soon after, Jem proposes to Tessa while confessing his undying love for her. How can Will tell Jem that he's also in love with Tessa without breaking his heart? And who will Tessa end up with forever?

Sophie, the maid servant, was indeed one of my favorite characters throughout the book. Although she represented something as insignificant as a servant, her presence played a huge role in the output of the book. I really saw her progress from the last book, showing more compassion and her ability to love. She is wise, and not only to herself but to Tessa.

We have more even more betrayals! Yes, there was an immense amount of betrayal from Jessamine and Benedict Lightwood. I'm not gonna say I was surprised bccause, well I wasn't. To sum up The Infernal Devices series so far, it's a one way, fast-paced, action-packed, fantasy read that I've had the pleasure of reading. I find it really interesting that I could be so immersed in such a foreign world. ok you could say I'm obsessed with anything Shadowhunter. I purchased a stele and the Shadowhunter's Codex from Amazon. I'm so hyped to read the final book in the series and possibly move onto The Mortal Instruments series. Thanks again for reading this review!

I just couldn't help making an Angelic Rune necklace out of polymer clay:

The Balance Keepers are Coming: Lindsay Cummings' New Series

I'm so ecstatic to announce that Lindsay Cummings is coming out with yet another fantastic and exciting read! The Fires of Calderon by Lindsay Cummings will be available in bookstores on September 23, 2014. The author of The Murder Complex comes back and surprises us with a YA fantasy novel. I'm so getting a shelf ready just for this series.

Title: The Fires of Calderon

The first book in an epic middle grade fantasy adventure series that takes place in an underground society at the center of the earth. Packed with action, humor, magic, and mystery.

His new job is important; if the realms fall out of balance, the world above could be in great danger.

Albert and his Balance Keeper teammates Birder and Leroy arrive in the Core not a moment too soon. There's an Imbalance in the Calderon Realm and it's threatening to bury Albert's hometown of New York City in a mountain of ash.

The three must train hard completeing mental and physical challenges, but above all, they must harness the power of their Tiles- unique superpowers give to each Balance Keeper. So far, Albert mastered the art of not mastering his Tile...

With the situation in Calderon growing worse every day, can Albert, Leroy, and Birdie restore balance before New York is destroyed forever? Will Albert master his Tile before it's too late?

Perfect for fans of Percy Jackson, The Unwanteds, and the classic Journey to the Center of the Earth.

Lindsay Cummings is quickly climbing the stairs of fame. No.. correction. She's taking the elevator there. Her book, The Murder Complex, is now a well-known dystopian that I'm sure all YA readers will love. That's coming from me, a person who's already read it (and loved it). Check the review here! The plot was riveting and the characters were swoon worthy! I just hope (I wish, I beg) that I can make it to the bookstore on the way home from school to pick up this book. I recall seeing Lindsay Cummings at the CBC BookRave signing, and she kind of signed my book. SO that was a fabulous fangirl moment for me.

To support Lindsay, go out now and buy her new book before they're all gone from the shelves. They're going to go quick! I read The Murder Complex, and I loved it. There is not doubt in my mind that I'll enjoy this book just the same, or even better!

What are you waiting for? Are you really gonna miss out on all the action and adventure with Albert?

Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices Trilogy Book 1) by Cassandra Clare

Title: Clockwork Angel
Author: Cassandra Clare
Pages: 479
Published: August 31st, 2010
Genre: YA fantasy novel
In a time when Shadowhunters are barely winning the fight against the forces of darkness, one battle will change the course of history forever. Welcome to the Infernal Devices trilogy, a stunning and dangerous prequel to the New York Times bestselling Mortal Instruments series.

The year is 1878. Tessa Gray descends into London's dark supernatural underworld in search of her missing brother. She soon discovers that her only allies are the demon-slaying Shadowhunters- including Will and Jem, the mysterious boys she is attracted to. Soon they find themselves up against the Pandemonium Club, a secret organization of vampires, demons, warlocks, and humans. Equipped with a magical army of unstoppable clockwork creatures, the Club is out to rule the British Empire, and only Tessa and her allies can stop them....
** SPOILERS ARE INTENDED IN THIS REVIEW FOR THE MOST PART**

MY FIRST CASSANDRA CLARE BOOK EVER! I'm so glad that I'm finally apart of the Shadowhunter's club. You don't even know how long I've been wanting to get on that bandwagon. This has proved to be an evolutionary milestone in my life. I mean, this book practically changed my life. I'm totally obsessed with the world I've now been immersed into. For one thing, I really like how everything was set up in this book. Ordinary people are set apart from supernatural. There are mundanes (the majority of the ordinary people), the Shadowhunters (the super butt-kicking and sexy demon-slaying crew), and finally the Downworlders (a group that consists of vampires, demons, and other supernatural creatures). Now this is a really high fantasy YA so if you don't like fantasy YA, I suggest you step away from this review because things are about to get a bit supernatural in here!

Tessa Gray is just an ordinary girl, or so she thinks! When she finds out that she can shift into other people (dead or alive), she is sought out by many to take control of her ability, Downworlders included. It's not until the smexy Will Herondale saves her from being trapped by the Dark Sisters, who have been keeping her hostage to train her and the ability she holds. She is brought to the institute, a place where Shadowhunters and other supernatural creatures find refuge. Her new story as a full-on Shadowhunter begins there with a miraculous tale of forbidden romance and excitement.

The romance, for one thing, is something I want to talk in depth about. The on-going love triangle between Will, Jem and Tessa was, in fact, an interesting one. The heat and chemistry between Will and Tessa brought me to my knees. I was all for the #Wessa,or #Till. Sorry I'm really bad at ship names. Jem was another story... No matter her feelings for Jem, she will always be in love with Will. That's just my interpretation on this tainted love story. I really hate how the ending didn't clearly justify if Will and Tess were together. It would shatter my heart to see him reject her, or vise versa.

Let's just say I loved loved loved loved the characters in this story. You never really know who is evil and who isn't. Tessa Gray, one of the most amazing characters I'v ever read about, tries to carry this burden of having such an amazing superpower. The characters were rich, lively. This is why we (readers) wake up every morning, ecstatic to be reading these kinds of books. You authors are just so amazing!

*does little fangirl giggle to self*
OMG the Epilogue though. I'm seriously crying over that... so if you didn't already read the book, Cassandra Clare leaves us off with a little cliffhanger of hers. The epilogue is basically all about Will's secret meeting with Magnus Bane. I NEED TO KNOW RIGHT NOW WHAT WILL ASKED OF MAGNUS!! Tell me now!!

Overall a phenomenal way to get jumping into a series. First books are always the best for me, but from many others I've heard that her books just keep getting better and better. Clare's world building skills are on point as she succeeds in shaping the world of the Shadowhunters.

Favorite Quote: "There was something forbidding about the intensity of Will's gaze, the tension of his stillness. Sophie had her hand at her throat, her fingers nervously fluttering at her collar."

Stacking the Shelves #6 + BookRave Signing Experience

This is going to be my first Stacking the Shelves after being MIA for quite a while. As you all know, I took a trip to the Chapter by Chapter BookRave Signing. I couldn't resist not buying any books there. I met some amazing authors like Jennifer L. Armentrout, Jodi Meadows, Lindsay Cummings, Marie Rutkoski, and finally Abi Ketner and Missy Kalicicki. I rebought some of these books just for the sake of getting a signature, so expect a giveaway... like when I have the time to create one.

Books I Bought (I got all these copies signed :D)

The highlight of my day: Getting the chance to talk to and personally meet Jennifer L. Armentrout, my idol and favorite author! She was sweet and fantastic, just everything I expected her to be. She was giving out ARC copies of her book The Return, so I'm really excited about reading that. I also made a shirt with Daemon Black on the back-side, and she signed that!! Expect a giveaway soon for some of these books...
Chapter by Chapter BookRave Experience

Chapter by Chapter was my first book signing ever. I'm glad that I got to spend it with my wonderful father, who also compensated the entire trip... I wouldn't have even known about this signing if it wasn't for Twitter! TWITTER I LOVE YOU RIGHT NOW LIKE SO SO MUCH! Here are just some photos and random swag pics...

Yep, lot's of swag and stickers. Going next year? Tell me if you're going! How do you guys like my shirt-making skills? I hope that piece of fabric doesn't fall off because I didn't get a chance to iron it for a long time (like I was supposed to). Also don't forget to link your Stacking the Shelves down below :D

Blogish Updates- Chapter by Chapter BookRave Signing + Clockwork Angel

I miss you guys so much right now. Between adjusting to a new school and finishing tons and tons of homework, I don't have time for blogging anymore. I still need to complete the last 100 pages of Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare, which I'm so looking forward to a good weekend. Along with some very intense reading sessions, I'm also looking forward to attending the Chapter by Chapter BookRave signing in New Rochelle hosted by Jennifer L. Armentrout!!

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG I have a 50% chance of seeing Jennifer L. Armentrout. I'll be paying some big money for her new book Wicked! I'll be (attempting) seeing Wendy Higgins, Jennifer L. Armentrout, and Lindsay Cummings! So if you're going, tell me and we'll try to like meet up or something idk. I'm going to take a lot of pictures so be on the lookout for that!

In other news, I'm going to be finishing Clockwork Angel tonight! And I mean tonight (no procrastination there). I hope to have the review up by Saturday or Sunday. I'm gonna try my best for Saturday.

Everyone enjoy your weekend. And please at least try to be more productive than I am/was for this month so far.

The Painted Catch by Ronder Scott: Blog Tour

Title: The Painted Catch
Author: Ronder Scott
Pages: 288
Published: May 2014 by Tenth Street Press
Genre: Thriller
Rating: 5/5 WELL EARNED AND DESERVED!
What happens when you are in an elite military squadron and follow an order that was given in error?

That's what happened to Shane Braff and Jennifer Koppell when they entered Tayyip Nafisi's home. He wasn't a terrorist and neither was his family. But it all happened so fast and the result was that his son lost his life that day and his wife soon followed.

Not able to cope with the grief. The Painted Catch is a psychological thriller that shows how Tayyip Nafisi turned from dedicated government employee; a man who used his genius to help the United States government, to a man who will stop at nothing to get revenge on the people that stole everything from him. When Shane and Jennifer discover they are both in The Land of Paintings, they will do whatever it takes to ensure that their children survive. For Shane, it means the ultimate sacrifice of his life. For Jennifer, it means comings to terms with the past and doing what she must to protect their daughters in the future. Unfortunately, it also means paranoia because Tayyip Nafisi was never caught.

** I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review: NO SPOILERS*

This book was just screaming my name!! Although I've never really read any psychological thrillers in the past, this book seemed to definitely intrigue me. This book is very reminiscent of the TV show Revenge, if you've ever watched it. You must, it's fantastic. Revenge is the ultimate key to success in life. No I'm just kidding, don't take my word on that. Anyways I was really excited when Sage's Blog Tours came to me with a review request of this particular book.

Let me mention for starters, it took me quite a while to get into this book. I honestly think it's just because of the reading slump I've been stuck in, but I've chosen to think otherwise. Once I finally got into the gist of the story, the characters and the plot, I was simply hooked. Ronder Scott is a riveting storyteller, who will for sure keep you on the edge of your seat. Some aspects I enjoyed: the way the author thought about what she was going to write before actually writing it down. This is actually important because I enjoyed how the schemes and so-called "revenge plots" were thoroughly developed. I could tell that Miss. Scott had put quite the effort in her story, and I'm more than ecstatic to be promoting it.

Umm.. what else?? I'm sorry. I'm like writing this review after I've finished the book. I don't normally do that but in this case, I was using an ebook. I didn't have much to work with. Other than that there were an intricate bunch of characters. The characters had a lot of substance and backgrounds. it's something I highly look for in a good thriller. Tayyip Nafisi (good boy gone bad). I totally loved sitting down to this character. Just reading about how he interacted, how he thought. It was something I wish I could experience over and over again- being in the brains of a genius, or shall I say evil mastermind.

The Painted Catch has definitely left a soft patch in my heart. I don't think I'll ever be able to put this book out of my mind. And I've read many books, like that's the only thing I do these days (besides studying my butt off in high school, of course). Disclaimer: I would not recommend this to anybody who has the YA contemporary disease (that's what I call it now, but I don't hate). I just mean to those who choose to read nothing but contemporary. There is nothing "contemporary" about this book. Unless you count the fact that there is a really awesome character worth a swooning....

Look what blog tours have done to me! I want more... I need more...

Jack Daniels is the cute to all evils.
Sex should be casual and, preferably, anonymous.
Giving a damn is for nurses, philanthropists and suicide hotlines.

My name is Matthew Rogers and those are the values I built my adult life around. They are also the reason I had to forsake everything I loved in Seattle and embark on a solitary road trip across the country, with no direction other than searching for the next small town, the next girl, and the closest liquor store.

Boredom, frustration and a series of unfortunate decisions let me to the rickety-ass town of Jolene, Alabama- a town I wanted to leave behind from the moment I passed the welcome sign. But it was there where I met her. The girl who made me question everything I've always believed in, and the only one who has ever had the power to break my heart.

Her name is Lexi.
She's beautiful, and I'm pretty sure she hates me.
And for once in my life, I give enough of a damn that I keep finding a reason to stay.

Meet the Charactersas

Matt is a rich, big city, unapologetic asshole who prides himself on not caring about things or people. he spends without planning, drinks without thinking and seduces without feeling. To him, the world is a big Matthew party, and he loves it.

Lexie, on the other hand, is a sweet, small town girl who cares a lot about everyone around her. Yes, she has a strong personality and as a general rule takes no bullshit, but she's also attentive to strangers and willing to put her own life on hold for the sake of those she loves.

In a nutshell, Lexie and Matthew seem like complete opposites, but once they open up to each other, they find that they're actually more alike than either of them could ever imagine.

The TBR Tag

meme photo created by Rachel and Diana

Thanks Jillian from Jillian's Book's for tagging me. You're such a sweetheart, and I've had my eye on this tag for quite some time. I'm really glad I get a chance to finally answer these questions!

1. How do you keep track of your TBR pile?
That's my secret- I don't. I'm like one of the most unorganized book hoarder in the universe. I guess I can say that I have a separate bin for my TBR books, which somewhat keeps me organized.

2. Is your TBR mostly print or ebook?
All print, except for one ARC copy that I still haven't got to reviewing yet. I'm in the beginning of the school year so it is getting harder to keep track of what I need to get done and whatnot.

3. How do you determine which book from your TBR to read next?
A jar actually does that for me. I don't trust myself in picking on my own. I always end up leaving a book to collect dust on the side just because I have some weird bias over it. It's a pretty hard process to explain.

4. A book that's been in your TBR the longest.
Cinder by Marissa Meyer. I've been putting this one off because of all the mixed reviews and mainly because it's fantasy.

5. A book you recently added to your TBR.
Doon by Carey Corp & Lorie Langdon, recommended by Sasha Alsberg.

6. A book in your TBR strictly because of its beautiful cover.

So purty...

7. A book in your TBR that you never plan on reading.

Where do I start with this book? Let's just accept the fact that there are way too many mixed reviews on this book to determine if it's good or not. It's sad to say though because the cover is really nice.

8. An unpublished book in your TBR that you're excited for.
None at the moment that are unpublished. I haven't been doing much of reading this month.

9. A book in your TBR that everyone recommends to you.

With all my schoolwork and tests, I doubt I'll get a chance to start this wonderful series I've been hearing so much about.

10. Number of books in my TBR.
There are currently *counts* 157 books on my TBR list! I know omg that's kind of a lot. And somehow I think I'll never manage to get through the list.

So sorry I haven't been posting like my usual self. As I said in my Blogish Updates post, I just entered the bizarre world of high school where teachers actually let you do labs on your own in chem class. BIZARRE, LIKE I SAID! Next month I'm gonna try my absolutely hardest to get back into the regular posting schedule. Thanks again for sticking with me!

Audiobook LOTBE
Arianna Grace enjoyed living in her her dull Midwestern teenage life where she ignored the many unanswered questions of her childhood. Why were her parents dead? Why doesn't she have a family? Why do her memories only start at five? When someone offers to explain it, Arianna thinks she is just getting answers. Instead, she is thrown into a world of dark creatures that drink blood.
On Arianna's sixteenth birthday, her world is thrown upside down when she changes into a vampire. Night humans, or demons as some call them, live in normal society. Learning all the new rules of a world she didn’t know existed would be hard enough, but it's further complicated by two former-friends that now want to help her take her role as the successor to her grandfather.
There is a war going on between the night humans. Sides have been taken and lines are not crossed. Four main clans of night humans are struggling for control of the night. Divided into two sides, clans Baku and Tengu have been at war for centuries with the clans Dearg-dul and Lycan. That is, until Arianna Grace finds out the truth; she is the bridge of peace between the two sides. But not everyone wants peace. With the night humans divided onto two sides, Arianna is now a pawn in the war between them. Arianna must choose a side- her mother’s family or her father’s- and for once in her life decide her own fate.

Becoming a Legend

Audiobook BAL
Arianna Grace is about to turn seventeen, and her life has been very complicated lately. She is the leader of four clans of night humans: dearg-dul, baku, tengu, and lycan. While the four clans seem to get along better with each other, there is internal conflict on both sides of her family, not to mention the three boys vying for her attention. Devin is set on keeping her safe above all else. Turner’s goal is to make her happy. And Andrew wants her for himself. At some point Arianna will have to choose between them, but first she needs to survive the plots against her.
Edward Lucan is making a chase for the power to lead the baku clans and is playing his cards by using his nephew Andrew to lure Arianna into a trap. Unfortunately for Lucan, Andrew has his own plans. He has spent the last year waiting for Arianna to see him as more than a friend, and he now finds it necessary to make a move for her affection, despite his uncle.
In the dearg-dul estate, Arianna discovers that the ambitious Lord Seeger has been laying his own strategies for power and is slowly poisoning her. After getting away with her grandfather’s murder, he is setting his sights on her. Luckily for Arianna, her team is on to all of the plans and is making their own counter strategies. Will it be enough to keep Arianna safe? Several people close to Arianna have been keeping secrets. If Arianna is to take power and control of the night, she will need to know the truth. Will someone finally tell her what it really means to become the legend everyone is waiting for, before it is too late to turn back?

Winning the Legend

Arianna has gathered the outside clans to decide her fate in marriage. A tournament will be held, and she is the prize, whether she wants to be or not. The only thing for her to do is watch the clan leaders fight over her, or is it? Thanks to her team’s well-made plans, Arianna has other strategies in place. Hopefully one of those plans will earn her freedom.
As the contestants gather and she learns more about the night human world, there are new allies to keep close and more enemies to keep even closer. Some even hold more secrets to her legend and possibly the actual reason to her existence. Now Arianna must decide what to do with the fate she has been dealt. The time has come to step out of the shadows of the men who protect her, and into her own power. The time is now for Arianna to take control, and fight for the destiny she wants to live.

Blogish Updates- The Infernal Devices and Summer's Death

It pains me to say that I'll be blogging less from now on. I'm not gonna just stop posting, I mean I wouldn't do that! Ya know, starting freshman year in high school. I thought it would be easy, only to be disappointed when I got lost in the hallways. I had to eat lunch alone next to a garbage can. I think that says something about me as a person. And well let's just say I didn't quite get my ID card to enter the school building, and I was too shy to ask someone about it. Gee Alex, good luck getting into the building tomorrow without and ID! I feel like I can only embarrass myself more if I keep talking.

Anyways so you guys pretty much get the gist behind what I'm reading, what I'm doing. I'm currently starting The Infernal Devices series; that should be pretty exciting. I'm try my absolute hardest to sneak a giveaway in soon. I really want to thank you guys for 50+ GFC followers! That may not seem like a lot, but I never even realized that people were reading what I wrote. This blog was all an effort to break me out of my confidence shell.

I just want to take a moment of silence for the death of our summer..... It's not everyday we're allowed to stay up till 4:00 in the morning reading!

Next Monday I will also be launching another Midnight Monday meme because I guess I haven't done one in a while. I'm done talking for now, but I hope you all had a great summer and an even better first day. First days are the worst, but hey seconds are the best! Have a wonderful wonderful weekend, and I'll talk to you guys when I finish Clockwork Angel this weekend for the review!

Thanks for flying by, come again soon!

Stacking the Shelves #6

I was vacation-bound this month! And although that may sound like a bad thing, I assure you it's not. Wow, Michigan to Canada in one day. I have to admit it was pretty exciting. Let's not forget how many bookstores I got to roam around. Before I begin to babble even more than I've already have, let's just get to the good stuff.

Books I Purchased
Currently Flying Through...

Reasons for purchasing I'm really really late on the Infernal Devices trilogy but hey, now is better than never. Don't even ask me about Fahrenheit 451. I've been forced to read that for a summer school assignment that I haven't even started yet. New school, new rules. Pity me, please. I had to get the 60th anniversary edition because I read in style. I can't have a non-professional book lying around on my bookshelf. AND HOW EXCITED AM I TO BE READING THE FINAL INSTALLMENT OF THE LUX SERIES? VERY :D J Lynn just never ceases to amaze me!
