One kiss could be the last.

Seventeen-year-old Layla just wants to be normal. But with a kiss that kills anything with a soul, she's anything but normal. Half demon, half gargoyle, Layla has abilities no one else possesses.

Raised among the Wardens- a race of gargoyles tasked with hunting demons and keeping humanity safe- Layla tries to fit in, but that means hiding her own dark side from those she loves the most. Especially Zayne, the swoon-sworth, incredibly gorgeous and completely off-limits Warden she's crushed on since forever.

Then she meets Roth- a tattooed, a sinfully hot demon who claims to know all her secrets. Layla knows she should stay away, but she's not sure she wants to- especially when that whole no-kissing thing isn't an issue, considering Roth has no soul.

But when Layla discovers she's the reason for the violent demon uprising, trusting Roth could not only ruin her chances with Zayne,,, It could brand her a traitor to her family. Worse yet, it could become a one-way ticket to the end of the world.

GODDD I'M ALWAYS IN THE MOOD FOR A JENNIFER L. ARMENTROUT BOOK! Jennifer L. Armentrout, the Queen of Paranormal Romance, has woven an exciting and heart-wrenching story between demons and gargoyles. I had to pick up a Jennifer L. Armentrout book to get me out of my reading slump and omg guys, it was the perfect choice. I'm really glad I finally decided to read more of her writing.

The premise sets up for a promising story of a war between demons and gargoyles. Layla, being a half-demon and half-gargoyle teenager, has a lot to deal with. Because of her unique 'species' she's been gifted with many talents- she can suck your soul, tag demons, and identify dor see someone's soul. She currently lives within the presence of gargoyles who have a claim on her amazing abilities to track and tag demons for them to later kill, however, when she meets bad boy Roth things begin to change. Roth is a demon and really starts to transform the idea of demons that Layla seems to have.

I have to say that White Hot Kiss is definitely one of Jennifer's best works. The Lux series was fantastic and so was her stand alone novel, Don't Look Back but this series is beginning to really overpower all the others. I've honestly never had a problem with her writing and it's just something you get addicted to. Like you literally can't stop once you've picked up one of her books.

In this novel she decided to do something different with her world and used demons and gargoyles. I was first really interested in this series when her publisher did a read-aloud at the 92Y in NYC. I'm gonna say it... but I'm obsessed with Jennifer L. Armentrout. I think it's come to a point where I'm stalking her at book signings and other bookish conventions... hehe LOL I'm totally harmless. But yeah honestly if you're looking for a kickass paranormal romance that will get you out of any reading slump, and I say any, then be prepared for White Hot Kiss. I can't wait to read the sequel now.

And omg the sexy-ass male characters that she just sculpts so masterly. Like let's back up here for a second and talk about damn Roth. Roth is a freaking demon. I mean how hot is that! And he's freaking amazing because he's got a snake tattoo that moves, and he's like able to kiss Layla. HAHA ZAYNE IN YOUR FACE! Excuse me for being so mean to him. I just didn't like the other male character, Zayne. He was just a cop-out character probably put in the book just to churn up the waters. He was practically useless, and well, he should have cared more about Layla.

Jennifer greatly understands her audience. This series is a YA series and it surprised me how well this book fell into that genre. She's known for her very romantic and somewhat intricate scenes in her adult novels, but she managed to make it mature enough for young adult audiences only. No childish and awkward love scenes, but it was just sooo good and I devoured every moment of it!
