Let's Discuss: My Braces Experience + MASSIVE GIVEAWAY

It is indeed weird. For the past two years, I've endured the names brace face, metal mouth, robot girl and a whole lot more. And all because I had braces! It's actually a funny story because I had retainers to begin with and my doctor told me that would be it. But because I refused to wore my retainers before and after I ate, I ended up going to the next step- BRACES!

I'm taking them off on December 31st, so it's kind of a long wait for me! But I cannot even begin to tell you how successful this transition has been in my life. I'm loving the results of modern technology on my life and how it's so easy to get your teeth fixed! If you're honestly considering braces but you really don't want to wear it for a year or two, it's definitely worth it!

When I first went to the orthodontists to get them on, I was scared beyond belief. A lot of kids at my school had braces and kept telling me about painful the transition was. In all honestly, the application of the braces itself does not hurt at all!! However, a day after getting the contraption on, and you will start to feel real pain. I think I lost about 9 pounds when I first got my braces because I refused to eat anything! It just hurt that badly.

I've wanted straighter and whiter teeth ever since I knew I could have them, and when the doctor told me I could get braces I was a bit hesitant. Were the two years really worth it? YES THEY TOTALLY WERE! But am I glad to finally be taking them off? YES, I AM MORE THAN EAGER TO RIP THE NASTIES OFF MY TEETH!

Now for all you people who don't care about this discussion post, let's talk about the massive giveaway I'm hosting. When I came home from school one day, I saw a Barnes & Noble card on my table. At first I started panicking and then I started jumping up and down. IT WAS FOR $150 buckaroos! So because I received so much, I'd like to share some Christmas joy with all of you. In order to win ANY BOOK OF YOUR CHOICE just fill out the Rafflecopter application down below and see if you're the winner.

  1. Yay, no more braces!! Sorry you had to go through all that name calling stuff. When I had braces everyone had them so we'd all pretty much be making fun of each other. I have a really inappropriate last name and I get (playfully) teased about it. It stings a bit sometimes but not as much as it used to. Girl power, stay strong!!

Awww thanks for the giveaway!! Whoa, you got $150 for B&N? Best gift EVER!! Ohh what to choose? So many choices! Perhaps Open Road Summer by Emery Lord?

Thanks and happy holidays hon <33

  2. It's great you're getting your braces off! A ton of my classmates are also starting to get their braces off around now, too. I was actually supposed to get mine on a year ago, but I ended up not. So now, I have to wait until 9th grade to get mine, because of PCSing possibilities and I don't want to have to transfer dentists. I'm glad you're happy with the results, though, I'm anxious to get mine over with.

$150 in books is AAAMMMMMAAAZZZIIINNNGGG. Congrats!:D I can imagine having the same reaction. I really want to read The Winner's Curse by Marie Rutkoski, but I'm not set on one title.

    Merry Christmas to you, too!:)

    1. I have the Winner's Curse on my shelf. I still have to get to it! That's amazing that you got to skip braces for a year. And yeah I totally know what you mean by transferring dentists. The process is fast and the time passes by quickly. Have a merry Christmas too!

  3. I can't believe people actually still make fun of people with braces. That's not cool at all. I had them such a long time ago, but I don't remember if people made fun of me or not.

If I won, I know I'd have a hard time choosing, but I might have to go with The Heir by Kiera Cass, even though it's not out until May. lol

  9. I've had braces too, but I was never teased, so I'm sorry that you had to go through that! I did have them later than I wanted to, which meant I got them taken off earlier than planned so I could lose them before I graduated high school. They did help make my teeth straighter and everything, but after I got them taken off, I had cavities for the first time since I was a kid. And getting THOSE filled in sucked so badly. Anyway, yay for no braces anymore! :)

What book would I choose? Oh, Snow Like Ashes because it's been at the top of my wishlist since I've heard of it. :)

  11. I've never had braces, but everyone tells me how uncomfortable they are. So happy for you that you are getting them off! Everyone used to make fun of me because I wear glasses, but then everyone else started getting them too. This is hard, I have so many books I want to read, but if I would have to choose I would say Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas.

i have braces and i have to keep them on for another year. (yay i only needed them for 2 years!) I can't believe that people make fun of braces. Don't others have braces too? I believe i asked for Half-Blood by Jennifer L. Armentrout.

    4. The marriage one, right? If so, OMG DAEMON! I made my friend read Obsidian and she loves it. So happy. I'm just sad that Pepe and Sztella the cover models broke up

    5. Hoow interesting. I knew that the male was Pepe, but I had no clue who the female on the cover was. I have the bindup versions so I don't know if that changes anything. The Lux series will stay be one of my favorite series, no matter what.
