I have a plan.

We'll either destroy them for good, or they'll destroy us.

Either way, only one of us is walking away.

In the stunning conclusion to the wildly popular White Rabbit Chronicles, Alice "Ali" Bell thinks the worst is behind her. She's ready to take the next step with boyfriend Cole Holland, the leader of the zombie slayers... until Anima Industries, the agency controlling the zombies, launches a sneak attack, killing four of her friends. It's then she realizes that humans can be more dangerous than monsters... and the worst has only begun.

As the surviving slayers prepare for war, Ali discovers she, too, can control the zombies... and she isn't the girl she thought she was. She's confused to the woman being responsible for killing- and turning- Cole's mother. How can their relationship endure? As secrets come to light, and more slayers are taken or killed, Ali will fight harder than ever to bring down Anima- even sacrificing her own life for those she loves.

**Stay tuned for a long (really long) review. NO SPOILERS**

Something terrible happened when I was trying to finish the last 40 pages of this book! I was completely heartbroken by the fact that I lost my book before I could finish it. You're probably saying: Alex, how could you do such a thing? Trust me, I'm pretty sure I hate myself more than you already hate me. But don't your fear because I will still be delivering this review no matter what!

I was waiting 6 long and lonely months for this book! It's been one of my highly anticipated reads of the year. And now that's it out, I'm glad I was able to read it! I will be attending a book signing on the 21st to see Gena Showalter and Jennifer L. Armentrout in action!

So back to the book... I would say that I'm kind of in a love/hate relationship right now. I've been a big fan of the series and have followed it for quite a while, but this book just made me hate the world so much. We have tons of betrayals and, not to mention, the deaths of some of the most amazing characters. I was upset by some of the character's deaths, and while I was reading the book I was thinking to myself: Why isn't anything going the way I want it to? Well I've realized over these several days that I can't get everything I want in the world and that Gena's interpretation of her story was simply hers to create and give to her readers. After that, I finally knew I was going to closure in this series.

The White Rabbit Chronicles is really a zombie series like no other. There are a lot of distinct and unique elements that really just set it apart from any other horror/fantasy book on the market. For one thing, the zombies in the book are spirits. And when I say spirits, I mean they don't have a human form so in order to fight one, you need a spirit as well. Alice Bell (the main character) joins a band of "slayers", who were born with the ability to rise from their spirits and fight these zombies. I really quite liked the aspect of this because it was just a different take on those nasty, flesh-eating suckers!

The characters were just so amazing. Every night I would pick up the book before I went to sleep to read it and when I did go to sleep, I would often have dreams about being Alice Bell and fighting with the oh-so delicious, Cole Holland. She's just such a fighter, which is a trait I mainly look for in YA books today. Educating girls and empowering woman to be something more. I'm all about that bass! We also have the males, who although were quite annoying at times, they never ceased to amaze me. They were described with ripped muscles, tousled hair, you know all the traits you would find in a perfect swoon! So.. probably one of the best YA sizzlers I've yet to read.

I didn't know Gena had it in her to write about such a plot twist near the end. It was almost unbelievable and plus, something I never thought would happen happened! At the end of this book (or what could have been the end), let's just say I was breathless and pretty upset. But in all, I believe good books are supposed to make you feel those things! It was no surprise to me that this was going to be my favorite book in the series. The White Rabbit Chronicles trilogy is definitely a first recommendation from me if you're just looking for a spectacular book in general. I also think you guys have always known I was fangirling about reading this book for quite some time now.

  5. Wait, you lost it? Where did it go??

I agree with everything. I was upset about...the death of my favorite character (you know who I'm talking about). But I was happy that Gena Showalter gave her readers more Ali & Cole sexy scenes, hahaha. & the characters are just so much fun. All of them. Ali really owns her badassery in this final book, too.

I wonder what Showalter is cooking up next, now that this series is over. Did she give any insight at her signing of new books/series she's working on?

    Great review, Alex :)

    1. Well I did hear her Lords of the Underworld series is amazing and she's still working on the books for that. But that's all for Cole and Ali. I'm pretty sure we'll hear from them in another book she might be working on. She didn't really say anything else :P
