Book That Surprised Me

Best Books of 2015

It's no surprise that Not If I See You First shoved The Wrath and the Dawn and Winter right into 2nd and 3rd place. It was truly a book I'll remember reading. It follows a main character that defies all the odds and as a disabled person, she decides that she doesn't want to be treated like someone who is disabled from doing what normal people do. Now I'm 100% sure if Eric Lindstrom is a debut author or not, but he's god some mad writing skillz. Uniquely, he infuses braille in the chapter titles and the cover itself. He makes you fall in love with his main protagonist and even though she doesn't have eyes, she doesn't need any to see right through people.

  1. So many amazing books :D many are on my TBR for this year (including Red Queen & Legacy of Queens) so I'm really excited to get started! I just finished Winter which was phenomenal and will undoubtedly be one of my favourites of this year

    1. I wish she was doing more for The Lunar Chronicles because it gives me the chills every time to think that my fave series is over. Red Queen is a must for this year :D

  2. I love The Wrath & the Dawn so much and it always makes me happy to see someone else love it too. :) Also, I'm going to have to check out Immaculate because if it beat I'll Give You the Sun to Best in Contemporary, it must be fantastic!

    1. I LOVE IT LIKE LIFE OMG. That book is freaking amazing. With Immaculate the only reason I put it before I'll Give You the Sun is because it took such a sensitive topic and nailed it hardcore. It was the perfect match of seriousness and a light-hearted story that gave me the butterflies. I still liked I"ll Give You the Sun as well though :D

  3. You picked some good books! I am so glad to see Bad Magic on your list. I have always loved Pseudonymous Bosch, but for some reason his books do not get the hype that they deserve. I also adored Red Queen and Illuminae this year. 2015 was a great year for fantasy and sci-fi. I just hope that next year can be just as good!

    1. EXACTLY. Someone who understands my obsession with his eccentric writing style and great characters. I dunno about this year but I have a strange feeling that it's going to be GREAT! Happy reading Tessa <3

  4. Okay so I loved Blue Lily, Lily Blue but I was also confused through most of it. I think I keep reading The Raven Cycle because I absolutely love the character dynamics! And while I find myself confused by the plot I do agree that the author is an amazing writer. Her style is so descriptive in a beautiful way and she's really funny too. Great list, Alex :D

    1. Thanks Jennifer! I definitely think for the last book of The Raven Cycle, I'm going to need to reread the entire series. There is so much that goes on and so many details I don't want to miss.
