The 100: TV Show Review

As I was aimlessly wandering around Netflix on Election Day (I had no school, holla), I stumbled upon this weird show! I obviously had no idea what I was getting into because I was just bored and looking for something to watch,

Let me be the first to say that The 100 is an amazing and exhilarating show that will keep you watching until 4:00 in the morning, well at least for me that is. If you're yearning for an action-packed apocalyptic TV series to start, I'm guessing this one right here will fit the bill. No one does action and blood better than the CW.

Let's start off with the plot: A nuclear war caused people to leave earth for about 97 years, give or take. Clarke Griffin, our main protagonist, is a juvenile prisoner. Little does she know that her society has big plans for "people" like her. 100 of these prisoners are sent back down to the ground to see if it is inhabitable. And the story takes off from there...

The thing I loved most about this show was that it didn't precisely focus on romance. That's a big thing in TV shows these days, especially for teens and young adults. For example, take the Vampire Diaries. First it was all about the keeping-I'm-a-vampire-a-secret thing, but then Elena showed up and I guess that's where we could say the romance blossomed. If you've ever watched TVD, you know what I'm talking about. It's like romance has practically taken over the show itself!

In The 100 we are taken on an entirely different journey filled with violence, mysterious creatures of the Earth, and not to mention, space!! I've yet to see a good space movie this year, however, I have high hopes for Interstellar. If you're not big on science fiction movies, this probably isn't the one for you. But majority of you are so there is no doubt in my mind that you will enjoy it!

I recently just found out that this show is actually based on a book. I bought the series the second I found out, and I really can't wait till they get here! This TV series is fairly now. As I'm writing this, I am watching as the show is airing. Every Wednesday at 9/8c, so tune in for the fun and excitement! Book review on this series to come soon!

  1. I love this show so freaking much! I knew about it months before it was aired and the only new CW show I watched last year and oh boy! it did not disappoint! Not a bit! I love how the story grows stronger as the chapters go. And I hope season 2 will keep getting better and better. I'm not sure about reading the books though because I haven't heard the greatest things and I just love the show so much that I don't really wanna compare both of them, if you know what I mean.

  2. I just finished season 1 two nights ago and stayed up till 4 in the morning to watch it. I can honestly say it's been the best science fiction show to air in 2013!! Season two is already playing, and I'm actually currently watching the third episode in season 2 that I recorded the night before. I really wish more people knew about this tv show!! And i heard the books were better than the show, so I'm probably gonna give it a try. Glad to see someone else fangirling with me! :P

  5. This show is the only one I watch on a regular basis. Even my dad watches it, which says a lot about it, because he normally doesn't watch anything on the CW. I haven't decided if I want to read the books yet or not. However, if the show is this good, the books must be spectacular!

    1. I heard the books were very different from the TV Show. I hope the book doesn't take away from the Clarke and Finn ship :P

    2. That almost scares me away from reading them, but I'm sure I will once the show is on break. At first I was all for Clarke and Finn, but now I think Clarke and Bellamy would be perfect :D

  6. I have not read the book series the show itself took awhile to lure me in as it was kept when a show I really liked The Tomorrow People got the can. But I'm glad I stuck with it as it is so much more than your average CW show with endless couple musical chairs and the like instead it is about real character development and consequences for people's actions. I recommend it highly.
